Dr. Lewis grew up in Petersburg, Alaska in a family of commercial fishermen. After graduating high school, she joined the family business as a longlining deckhand in the summers, while pursuing a bacehlor's in environmental science at Western Washington University in the winters. After completing her undergraduate education, she and her husband Ben moved first to Glacier WA, then Salt Lake City UT where she joined the WIMU regional program in Veterinary Medicine, attending first Utah State University before ultimately finishing her veterinary degree at Washington State University, graduating in 2026. While having enjoyed their time in the desert, her and Ben are glad to be back in the PNW. 

Dr Lewis' hobbies include traveling, camping, hiking, running, biking, all things water, sewing, film, and reading. She shares her life with two cats (Billy and Greg) and two dogs (Addie and Bobby)
